The former Liverpool player John Aldridge has lamented the Red’s defensive displays since the start of the season.
The Red’s legend went onto say that Emre Can – who looked composed last season – put in a disappointing performance against Aston Villa.
“Even Emre Can, who looked so composed last season, was panicking. He was slicing clearances, he was rushing his passes. You could just feel the nervousness of it all,” Aldridge stated
Can returned to defence during Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa where he spent most of last season playing.
The 21-year-old has also featured as a right-back for the Germany national team recently but it is fair to say he did not put on his best performance against Villa.
Can received a rating of 6.3 for his performance on the right side of a back three. The 21-year-old played alongside Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man made no tackles, four interceptions and three clearances thought the game.
The win was Liverpool’s first in four Premier League games take them up to seventh place in the table with 11 points.
