Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has slammed pundits and critics who questioned Mesut Özil move from Real Madrid to Arsenal.
The 27-year-old joined the Gunners from the La Liga giants in September 2013 for a club record £42.5 million. Lahm went onto state that players need to be given time in order to settle into a new leave.
“It was laughable when he was being questioned after his move to Arsenal,” Lahm told the Mirror.
“It doesn’t matter how good you are, everybody needs time to settle in a new league. Especially a league like England, where you don’t get as much time on the ball, and of course the game is a lot more physical.”
The Arsenal star has been in impressive form for the Gunners and currently has the most assists in the Premier League (9).
The World Cup winner is expected to feature for the north London club against Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight. Özil scored in the 2-0 win over Bayern in their last encounter a fortnight ago.
The Gunners remained top of the Premier League table following their win over the Swans at the Liberty stadium. The World Cup winner has a total of nine assists and two goals in all competitions this season.
