Mesut Özil will give Arsenal a boost says Walcott [divider]
Mesut Özil will give Arsenal a boost according to teammate Theo Walcott.
“I’m not quite sharp enough yet, but that will come,” Walcott told his club’s site.
“I’m just happy to be back and it’s the same with Mesut as well.”
“It gives a boost to the whole squad when players who’ve been out long-term are coming back. It lifts everyone’s spirits.”
Walcott and Özil both played for the first time since recovering from a lengthy injury in the 3-0 win against Stoke City in the Premier League.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Özil still needs a few weeks to return to full match fitness.
“He’s fit. He lacks match fitness, he’s fit physically. It’s getting used to contact again. It will take two to three more weeks,” Wenger said.
The World Cup winner played his first game since damaging his knee ligaments during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in October.
