Mesut Özil can help Theo Walcott become a better striker according to the SkySports commentator and former England international Alan Smith.
Walcott is being played in his favoured striker position by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger this season. The former Southampton forward has provided one assist and score three goals for the Gunners this season.
“Walcott is not one of those that leads the line with his back to play. He’s somebody that is always looking to get in behind. But that’s fine because of the way Arsenal play,” Smith told SkySports.
“They can dominate possession in the final third with the likes of Santi Cazorla, Mesut Özil and Sanchez, who keep the ball very well, and from that possession, Theo can make his runs.”
Özil and Walcott are expected to keep their places in the Gunners starting eleven this evening in their UEFA Champions League clash with Olympiakos.
The Gunners were on the end of a surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb in their opening group game and will be looking to make amends against the Greek Champions.
The North London based side secured their forth Premier League win of the season on Saturday which takes them within three points of leaders Manchester United.
